McDonald's sells earthworm burgers

Since people are going bonkers today, racing to the nearest gas station in a panic and acting like absolute fools here in ATL thanks to rumors gone wild, I just thought I'd join in the fun and games by digging deep and whipping out a classic urban legend that sent Americans into a frenzy back in the early '80s.

How about let's panic over all the folks along the Gulf Coast who have no homes, no jobs and who've lost family members instead of how we'll fill up our SUV so we can look cool speeding on the interstate? Worry about how you're going to save back some money in order to donate to the Red Cross, Salvation Army and other charities to HELP these folks. Mull that over in the three-hour gas line. Or if you're changing your order at McDonald's.

I think the SUV jackasses would probably get along with my favorite Starbucks patron.

And remember - your friend rekkid is an SUV-owning Republican. But she also owns a '97 Honda Civic hatchback and that's what she's been driving all summer. Today, she's going to buy her first $80 monthly bus pass. It will enable her to ride a commuter bus the 15 miles from her suburb to her downtown ATL office, thus saving her gas $$$ and helping the environment at the same time. It's how she plans on getting to work from now on.

Again, this is your friend who's been only half-jokingly called an "evil Republican" by her liberal coworkers who's taking these steps, not just talking about it. She's also planning on taking the $$$ she saves on gas and donating as much as possible to the charities she already gives to - Red Cross, Salvation Army, etc. - because those Gulf Coast folks are her neighbors and we've all got to ante up in order to help out.

She will now STOP talking about herself in the third person, something she hates hearing people do.

You'll have to explain that whole Republican thing to me sometime...

I would never call you evil. :)
